Today marks five years since we heard the words, “prepare yourselves”. What the doctors were saying was prepare yourself because she doesn’t have that long.

But what we heard was prepare yourself for the fight of your life. We decided as a family and a community that we would link arms and say NO to the devil.

I was meant for much more than that. I continually ask God what do you want me to do? I’m afraid of what he might ask of me. I know whatever he asks me to do he will equip me to do it.

For I know the plans I have you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Please keep praying - it's working.

I can’t believe it has been this long. I’m sorry I’m not better about keeping everybody informed. It was tough getting used to this “life-saving”device, Optune. I wear it 24/7 and it has now become a part of me. We are grateful for it. I am still on chemo five days every 28 days. I don’t have much trouble with it just makes me tired for about a week.
Enough about that.

We had great things happening this year, as you saw in the last post, Drew and Drew got engaged. We celebrated their wedding on June 22 in Sisters, Oregon. So many wonderful people came to celebrate with us. It was such an incredible time for our families to come together for such a happy occasion.

Right after the wedding, the Drew’s packed up their U-Haul and headed to Idaho. Where Drew got a job at the University of Idaho coaching Women’s basketball. We will miss them, but we are very proud of them. Drew is working on transferring her cosmetology license to Idaho. Not as easy as you would think. We continue to pray for their transition. They both are doing great. We got to visit them for a week in August.

Stephanie went back to work this past week after having a bit of the summer off. The kids in her class are very blessed to have her. As a special ed teacher, she needs our prayers also. Joey continues to work hard at his music. He made a lot of progress this summer. He is also adding a special education authorization to his PE credential while substituting at schools that need him. The children he works with are very lucky to have him as their teacher. Music and producing music is his passion.

Andy continues to be so very loving and supportive. Like we’ve said from the beginning. We are in this together. I am more in love with him today than 30 years ago when we pledged our love to each other.

Oh did I mention we moved in March?! Thank you to our wonderful friends who helped us pack up, move and unpack. It was all just in time to get the house ready for Drew’s bridal shower.

What’s next?

We continue to thank God every day, how he takes care of us and the life that we live in him.     ~Susan
